Fifth Annual Sonnet Celebration

For the fifth consecutive year, Shakespearean actor and director Jonathan Epstein will be the Master of Ceremonies at Shakespeare Now! Theatre Company's Annual Boston Shakespeare Sonnet-thon.

The Sonnet-thon will be held on Wednesday, April 4, in the Rabb Lecture Hall at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Admission is free and the public is invited to perform or recite the sonnet of their choice.

Linda Lowy, Founding Artistic Director of Shakespeare Now!, devised the idea of a Boston Sonnet evening, inviting people from all walks of life from the local community to publicly recite Shakespeare's 154 sonnets -- the playwright's most personally expressed body of work.

Lowy commented, "Epstein is the natural choice as Sonnet-master for this marathon Sonnet event.  His mastery of the sonnets is legion, and he spends part of every year lecturing and presenting the Sonnets across the USA.  He's also hysterically funny, and his humor invites the participants and audience to relax and enjoy the evening."

Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Linda Lowy, Shakespeare Now! Theatre Company is a professional theater company which performs the great works of William Shakespeare in elementary, middle and high schools in Massachusetts and throughout southeastern New England.  Workshops for students and teachers, led by the company's actor/educators, are an integral part of the company's work in schools.

To participate in this year's event, call Shakespeare Now! at 781-326-3643, or email  info@shakespearenow.org.
