"The Elixir Of Love"
From Boston Conservatory Opera
April 5 - 7

The Boston Conservatory Opera Division, under the direction of Sanford Sylvan, will present Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love)," at The Boston Conservatory Theater, 31 Hemenway Street in Boston, from April 5 - 7.  Kirsten Z.Cairns directs.  Bruce Hangen conducts.

Donizetti's frequently performed "Elixir," which premiered in 1832, is a flirtatious comic opera telling the story of Nemorino, a shy, simple man, who yearns for Adina, a bright, sassy girl who wants nothing to do with him.

A "doctor" comes to town and offers Nemerino a love potion to help him woo Adina. Meanwhile, Nemerino's wealthy uncle dies, leaving him a fortune, and he suddenly becomes the town's most sought-after bachelor.  Cairns sets this "Elixir" on a village green in World War II England.
