Jack Gallagher’s “Letters to Declan”
At Jimmy Tingle’s Off-Broadway June 18 - 29

Born and raised in an Irish family of five from West Bridgewater MA, comedian Jack Gallagher started his stand-up career during the explosive Boston comedy scene of the early 80's.

After almost twenty-years of West Coast living, well-honed comedy skills, “The Tonight Show,” his own ABC sitcom, and a current role on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Jack returns to New England in his first cross-over performance piece, “Letters to Declan.” Performances are set for June 18 - 29, 2003 at Jimmy Tingle's Off-Broadway, 255 Elm Street in Somerville.

“Letters to Declan” is structured around letters Jack has written to his first son, Declan. Each letter serves as the springboard into life-at-large. The show evolves into a funny and touching meditation on mid-life family, fame and finally, responsibility.

Some find their path in life easily and follow it quickly. For others it is more of a quest. After a variety of jobs ranging from teaching school to delivering ice, Jack established himself as a comedian up and down the East Coast working clubs and colleges.

Jack has headlined virtually every major comedy club in the country including the Improv, Catch a Rising Star and The Punchline. In addition, he has appeared in concert with such diverse acts as Dolly Parton, The Pointer Sisters, The Four Tops, Tony Bennett, Paul Anka and Warren Zevon.

In the mid-1980's Jack moved to Los Angeles where he quickly became a regular at The Improvisation in Hollywood. Jack added big screen credits to his resume by landing a major roll in the feature film “Shakes The Clown,” written and directed by "Bobcat" Goldthwait. He also appeared in “Heartbreak Ridge” with Clint Eastwood and was featured in the made for television movie “Incident at Ruby Ridge.”

Gallagher has also starred in his own ABC sitcom, "Bringing up Jack," appeared in a guest role on "Cheers!," spent a season as a writer on "The Gregory Hines Show," and recently appeared on both VH-1's "The List" and the HBO Original Series "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

A favorite of talk/variety show hosts and audiences, Jack has appeared on "The Dennis Miller Show," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Arsenio Hall Show" in addition to regular appearances on "The Tonight Show" with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

Most recently, Jack has been seen as the host of the Emmy award winning syndicated PBS series, "Money Moves," as well as the PBS special series "Off-Limits." For “Off-Limits” he has won both an Emmy award and the National Association of Television Producers and Executives IRIS Award in the category "Individual Achievement On-Camera Talent".

Performances of “Letters to Declan” are Wednesday through Saturday at 8 P.M. and Sunday at 3 P.M.
