Chamber Rep Theatre Sets
Holiday Season Performances

Chamber Repertory Theatre returns to Boston and the new New England area with its acclaimed productions of “Encore!!” and “Tour De Force!” beginning on December 5 and continuing for 21 performances in various locations. Having been seen by enthusiastic audiences in 43 states, the company is scheduled to perform in Hartford and Bridgeport, CT, Concord, NH, and Providence as well as in New Bedford, Springfield and Boston.

Now in its 27th season, this esteemed national touring company continues its tradition of dramatizing classic literature and presenting famous short stores on stages throughout America. Original productions include the works of such renowned authors as Edgar Allen Poe, Mark Twain, O. Henry and Washington Irving, among others.

“Encore!!” presents five pieces of classic literature beginning with Poe at his emotional best in the riveting short story, “The Tell Tale Heart.” Also brought to life in this two-act production are Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and W. W. Jacob’s eerie tragedy “The Monkey’s Paw.”

Guy de Maupassant’s story of consummate irony, “The Necklace,” and Mark Twain’s humorous view of frontier America,” “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” conclude the engaging production.

The five stories presented in “Tour De Force!” include: Poe’s psychological story, “The Fall of the House of Usher;” Ambrose Bierce’s Civil War drama, “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge;” Richard Connell’s suspenseful tale of two hunters stalking each other, “The Most Dangerous Game;” Saki’s lighthearted “The Mouse;” and O’ Henry’s “The Ransom of Red Chief,” complete with surprise ending.
