World Premiere of
“New Curtains for Macbeth”

Lyric Stage Company of Boston, in association with Boston Playwright’s Theatre, will kick off the new year by presenting the world premiere of “New Curtains for Macbeth,” written and performed by Larry Weinstein. The production opens at Boston Playwright’s Theatre on January 3 and runs through January 19.

Originally developed in a workshop at Bentley College (where Weinstein is a member of the Creative Writing faculty), “New Curtains for Macbeth” opens when an actor walks onto the stage to explain to the audience why the performance they are expecting to see -- a performance of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” -- has been cancelled.

In 2001, “New Curtains for Macbeth” was named a finalist at the International Playwright Festival in London. The Boston production will be directed by Lyric’s Producing Artistic Director, Spiro Veloudos.

For ticket information, call 617-492-0431. The box office at Boston Playwright’s Theatre, 949 Commonwealth Avenue, is open one hour before scheduled performances for in-person sales. Note that tickets for this production are NOT available through the Lyric box office.
