Come and Meet, Those Dancin' Feet

“42nd Street” Taps Into The Wang Theatre January 21-26

Touted as “The Broadway Musical for people who love Broadway Musicals,” the Tony Award-winning “42nd Street” will bring its razzle-dazzle to The Wang Theatre for a one week run, January 21-26.

With its star-is-born story of a chorus girl who steps in to save the show, “42nd Street” is filled with Broadway standards including “We’re In The Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me” and the title song.

The original production of “42nd Street” ran for more than 8 years and ranks as one of the ten longest running shows in Broadway history. Produced by Broadway’s equally legendary David Merrick, that production’s opening night stopped people in their tracks -- not only because of the phenomenal staging and dancing, but because Director and Choreographer Gower Champion died only hours before show time. Always the showman, Merrick waited until the thunderous curtain call at The Winter Garden Theatre to announce Champion’s passing.

The new production, which received the 2001 Tony for “Best Musical Revival,” opened in May of 2000 at the Ford Theatre, nestled in the heart of the rejuvenated 42nd Street district off Times Square.

Tickets are available at The Wang box office, 270 Tremont Street in Boston, or by calling Tele-charge at 800-447-7400. The Boston stop on the national tour of “42nd Street,” part is presented by Broadway in Boston with Wang Center Productions, Inc.
